ABOUT US

Voice of Percussion was established in 2012 and is a Malaysian Community Drumline team.Most of the members are former bandsmen in their high school, while some are drumline fans who picks up their interest from the internet.The purpose of establishment of this group is to serve as a platform for marching band lovers to continue to perform and compete in both local and international marching competitions.With passion as its main ingredient, this group strive to be a top notch drumline in this region. 

Voice of Percussion was led by Team Manager Mr. Nuril Syafiq, who was a bandsmen himself. He was a marching member of St. John's Institution Cadet Band (SJICB) when he was in high school back in 2003. The passion for marching band never stops that he is currently an active member of St John's Alumni Pipe Band (SJAPB); a renowned Scottish-style band in Malaysia. Apart from VOP, he is the Team Manager of Vortex Winterguard (Colorguard) and Voice of Independent Brass Ensemble (brass band). His vision is to led the team to be a prominent marching band team in Malaysia and to inspire young talents to pursue their love for marching band.

Mr Habibi Nasution is the Head Coach of Voice of Percussion since its establishment. He is also a co-founder of VOP and writes most of the music scores and competition piece for the team. He had gain his primary skillset in marching band in high school where he was trained by Indonesian and Thailand coaches. Today, he had developed the team's own training system (V-system) to suits Malaysian culture and enviroment. He is a well-known figure in marching band that a lot of teams uses his expertise to write and to train their players. As his credential builds, he had been invited to adjudicate in numerous competitions in Malaysia.

ABOUT THAILAND WORLD MUSIC CHAMPIONSHIP (TWMC 2018)

Thailand World Music Championship (TWMC), started in the year of 2010, and is the 1st band competition in Thailand. TWMC has created so many events and activities for marching band since then and had gathered participants from all across the globe. This is one of the major event for marching band industry in this region.

This year, Voice of Percussion will participate in the Solo Battle, Dual Battle and Drumline Battle competition starting from 14th December to 18th December 2018 as a single representative from Malaysia to complete againts team from Thailand, Indonesia, China and many more.

We chose to participate this competition because it gathers many great marching band teams. Thailand as a host country, was known as a forefront in marching band industries in South East Asia. The involvement in this competition will give our players an experience and exposure to compete against the region's best and to acquire new skills, technology and innovation  observed during the compeititon to fellow Malaysians.

TWMC 2018 COST BREAKDOWN

1. Flight ticket KUL-Bangkok (Return) : RM 850 X 20 Pax = RM 17,000.00

2. TWMC 18 Participant Fees** : RM 400 X 20 Pax = RM 8,000.00

    **Note : Participant fees includes normal meals, ground transportation, accomodation  and venue rehearsal

3. Total : RM 25,000.00 (Need your support here!)

WHY CROWDFUNDING?

We knew that many are eager to be apart of our TWMC 2018 #roadtotwmc journey. There are many who are willing to contribute and share the excitement of the competition as much as we do. We thought the best way to reach the masses is by using Mystartr; a crowdfunding platform because not only it funds our project, but also build traction between the supporters and the team.
