On the 26th of December 2004, a massive tsunami hit several regions in Asia.
Over 220,000 people lost their lives.
Twenty years later, one survivor will recount the harrowing event and its aftermath.

"The Tides Will Decide" is a documentary that follows Priscilla Patrick, a well-known Malaysian radio personality, and how she was caught in the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka. Miraculously surviving the devastating waves, she opens up about the harrowing incident and the events that followed.
As Priscilla prepares to return to Sri Lanka for the 20th anniversary of the tragic event, this documentary will share glimpses of her life, highlighting the individuals who have influenced her, her relationship with God, and how everything came together when the ocean nearly claimed her life.
We have exclusive access to Priscilla, a survivor of the tsunami. Documenting the story through her eyes, we are committed to maintaining authenticity through reenactments and visual storytelling. We have pledged our own funds to start this project. However, we need additional funds to begin filming and complete post-production.
We have chosen to crowdfund because we would like to get the public involved in making this documentary. Her voice has helped us navigate traffic all these years. Now it's time to meet the survivor behind the voice.
The 2004 tsunami is one of the most tragic events of this present age. There have been countless important stories documenting this. However, our approach aims to revisit the tragedy and explore the trauma it has left on one of its survivors, twenty years on.
What has she gone through?
How does she move on with life?
What was it like at that point when the waves came crashing down?
These are some of the questions that Priscilla aims to answer as she ponders her fate. With the 20th anniversary in December, this will be a timely reminder of a tragedy that has taken so many lives.
In 2018, while working in radio, I had the privilege of crossing paths with Priscilla. From our initial meeting, it was evident that she possesses an aura of "badassery" that sets her apart from the ordinary. However, it wasn't until she began to unravel her life stories that I truly grasped the magnitude of her experiences and the depth of her spirit.
Priscilla's journey, from pioneering radio traffic reports to surviving the catastrophic 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka, is nothing short of extraordinary. Her resilience in the face of adversity, coupled with her spirit to embrace life to its fullest, resonated with me. As someone who has always been captivated by stories of diversity and the human experience, I was struck by the richness and complexity of Priscilla's experiences.
Through "The Tides Will Decide," I aim to shine a spotlight on Priscilla's life and legacy. In commemorating the 20th anniversary of the tragic tsunami, this documentary not only pays homage to Priscilla's journey but also serves as a testament to the strength of individuals and communities affected by natural disasters.
By contributing, all of the funds received will go towards producing this project. We have 6 reward tiers to choose from.
We target to raise RM 35,000 which will be allocated towards paying the crew and expenses in finishing the documentary. To show our commitment to this project, we have selected FIXED FUNDING - meaning if we do not hit our target, we will not be keeping any amount raised and your money gets returned.
We would appreciate your help by sharing this campaign with your friends, family and colleagues. Every bit of attention we get will bring us closer to reaching our target!
Here is the cost breakdown of the funds raised:
Pre-production: RM5,000
Production: RM20,000
Post production: RM10,000
To this date, we have produced several feature films and TV series. Our works are available on Netflix, Astro and Viu. We are confident in completing this project within the set time frame.
However, we've noted several risks that may arise.
