ABOUT PROJECT
Problem
Malaysia will become an aged nation by 2030. According to Department of Statistic Malaysia (2011), there is an estimate 9.9% or 3.3 millions of ageing population (aged 60 years old and above) from the entire population in 2020, and the number is expected to increase to 4.9 millions by 2030. However, the senior citizens are not digital native, and a majority are technophobic. They have fear of adopting new technologies such as Internet, computer, smartphone and smart gadgets, and a majority face challenges using them. We are in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, it is crucial for the senior citizens to equip themselves with digital transformation skill sets so that they are able to access to the latest information and socially connected with their family, friends and society by using the new technology and ICT tools.
The ultimate goal
is to transfer the technological know-how, upskilling and reskilling skills to senior citizens, and help them to age gracefully and obtain financial independence for independent living.
With our humble initiative, PAWE MV Tech Crazz is an outreach program of skill training for seniors community. In our initial plan, we plan to provide 2 main trainings to the senior citizens, which are 'Waste to Craft' training, and 'ICT for Digital transformation Training'.Our first training series will be conducted at PAWE (Pusat Activiti Warga Emas/Senior Citizens Activity Centre) at Putrajaya, Malaysia. We estimate to reach out to 100-200 senior citizens for the 2 training sessions in 2020. We are raising fund for RM17,000 to conduct the 2 trainings sessions.
Demographic Profile of Ageing Population in Malaysia. Why should you support us?
- PAWE MV Tech Crazz is an outreach program to reach out to the senior citizens for the benefit of skill set retraining and connect them with the community and society with technical know-how and other essential knowledge.
- We have Lecturer, students and experts from Multimedia University to provide skills training to the seniors.
- We have the strategies and methodologies to conduct training for the seniors community.
- We also understand the needs of the seniors from our PAWE (Pusat Activity Warga Emas/Senior Citizens Activity Centre) members and other senior centres.
We have Tuan Haji Carlos, the Community Activist who represents Senior Citizens and Putrajaya community to speak out the voices and concern for senior community, public and the government. Thus, we here request for your kind support and endeavour to make our dream and PAWE MV Tech Crazz happened for the benefit of senior citizens to be equipped with technical know-how and skillsets.
Estimated Expenses
For the training, space rental, tools, our expenses are transparent and clear with our goal.
- Cost (We need to facilitate the training) - RM 1000 for 2 (trainings)
- Trainers and token of appreciation (certs and prizes - hamper for participants) - (RM2 x 50 + hamper RM150 x 3 + prize money RM 500)
- Material for training, (scissors, glue and rulers for crafting) - (RM10 x 50)
- Mini Tripod for smartphone recording (RM 10 x 50)
- Utilities, food - RM 1000 x 2 days (50 -100 PAWE members)
- Lunch RM 500 x 2 days
- Tea break RM 500 x 2 days
- Shredder (for waste to craft training) - RM 500 x 4 pax
- Rental of services and tools - settings - RM 2000 x 2 days (2 trainings)
- Location (we first focus at PAWE, Putrajaya)
- Labour fees - logistic fees - RM 500 x 2 days
We plan to reach out to 200 senior citizens (100 seniors x 2 training sessions) at PAWE. It is estimated we need RM 17000 for a total expenses for the two trainings.

RISKS AND CHALLENGES
Our Challenges are:
1) Our main challenge is to get funding for the elder citizen to have quality training from us. We are a team with professional trainers, lecturers and researchers from renown university in Malaysia.
2) As training needs training material, facilities, and also marketing fund. We are looking for people around to support this event.
3) For now, trainers are self-funding, and we are limited with what we have, through this platform, we need more financial support to get our program running
4）We hope that this support fund can help the elder people to be more IT independent to cope with nowadays digital age.
5) We also hope that this can be a chance for the elder people to be able to earn some pocket money from the art they crafted.

PAWE MV Tech Crazz is an outreach program of skill training for seniors community. Our objectives are: 1) Provide training to the senior citizens and equipped them with modern up-to-date and economically driven upskilling and reskilling skills. 2) Train senior citizens to equip themselves with ICT and Multimedia skill set in their daily lives. 3) Empowers senior citizens to become active users of new technologies, which open up a whole new world of information and opportunity. 4) To assist senior citizens to utilize technology for reading, to stay connected, to ease their daily routines, to explore things and to freely access information that will enrich their lives. This initiative is a collaboration of PAWE, MMU, GRITse, Brunel University London and Social Innovation Movement.
