I tell my story through the universal tools of self discovery: Music, philosophy, and comedy :) A 22 year old self taught singer/ songwriter studying in Malaysia. I play gigs all around, from Sri L... See More
1-The key desired outcome:
The reason for the album being called Soul Window is a reference to the eye, which we view the world from behind.
That gives our feeling a sense of personal belonging and isolation. as we drift through the sea of life, each of us on a little raft that we did not chose, and riding tides we cannot control.
Music lends dignity to the emotions we keep deep down inside, so under the saying "if there is something you really need to say, then there is someone out there who really needs to hear it." I share my music.
For the magic is when someone says "i can relate to the lyrics" as we are all broke sometimes, or feel like we aren’t making the smartest decisions, or fall in love with people we should not, or even feel like whistling when we hear birds sing.
Knowing that something so personal can be relatable to someone else is truly a humbling though of unity through the universal language of song. Bringing the world closer, one harmony at a time.
2- Why Crowd funding
Crowd funding is a way of letting the people chose what should emerge from the market next, rather than a bunch of business students who are wearing suits in a dark room trying to measure the "public's wants" through numbers, not feelings.
Whom better to judge if my music is worth listening to than the actual people I write my tunes to share with? :)
So I think crowd fund is the home for a restless dream waiting to take flight, and blossom into something only a community could bring to life.

I tell my story through the universal tools of self discovery: Music, philosophy, and comedy :) A 22 year old self taught singer/ songwriter studying in Malaysia. I play gigs all around, from Sri Lanka, to Korea. and now working on proving my mom wrong by showing her that music really can pay the bills :) Being on stage is where I feel we are all dialed in to the same tune, and we are all connected by the music. I didn't really grow up singing as it was considered a waste of time. until i began listening to One Ok Rock, Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, etc. only then did i feel the urge to pick up an instrument, I figured if not now, then when? So I got a Ukulele -the only thing I could afford- and started strumming, and for 8 hours a day thats what i did. walking to university strumming, walking home jingling, to the point where i became synonymous with the ukulele and was known as "the guy with the uke" for a while. 8 hours a day is what I put in, with my eyes on A.G.T they called me to audition, and I was practicing so much i only ate one meal a day. So my day comes and I go to the audition, only to find out it was not the televised audition, nor do we get to meet the judges. I got into a small room, and sang my heart out to the camera woman -only person in the room- and was told to await their instructions. I waited and waited, but no news came, i even emailed them many times with no response. so I almost gave up music -this was all last year- then I got called to Sri lanka to do a gig, and wrote "The Weight Of A Tear" and when I came back to Malaysia, I picked up a guitar. and started writing songs daily, performing at least one live show a week, regular YouTube video uploads, and busking like an insane person. last month I went to do a gig in South Korea, which helped me meet musicians and people who encouraged me to carry forth my calling. So now I'm back, ready to create, and share the music :) If I had the financial means, I would like nothing more than to record all the songs and upload them for free as music that is what I think songs are worth. not your money, but rather the tempo of your heartbeat, and your time. And one day it will be so, I will record all my albums and upload them for free, and have all my live concerts open for all. We all need a way out of the life we were given, to the life we have chosen. and to me, crafting melodies into remedies for the soul is enough to pull a human from the shadows, and a heart into the light. here is a little about that idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmcJjKS5-Hk&t=440s and a little about me: https://genkataki.wixsite.com/alid
