4th Rhapsody Music Festival (RMF) 

Rhapsody Music Festival is one of a culture event organized by Rhapsody Arts (RA), an non-profit society, which aims to professionalize music level of the music players and bring classical music closer to people and this allow local people to appriciete and listen to a professional concert without going abroad! 

This year, we propose a programme with Piano Trio and certainly, we have a little bit different than the passing years. The musicians will play the pieces of piano trio, and, to vary the concert, they are going to play with different formation. In addition, we are going to collaboration a music workshop with some schools.

Why it is worth to support us?

• The invited guests are all qualified and professional musicians, with whom our local music players can receive a different teaching method which can highly improve their technique, musicality and the different thinking about understanding the music score from different style and period.

• Collaboration with school, local cello ensemble and organized strings camp impassioned teenager players by playing with professional musicians.

• Gala Concert, young talent concert became a good reference for the music players and,  cultivate our communities, 

Why crowdfunding?

In the past, the cost was supported by the subscription fees from participants and the revenue form the Gala concert. The budget was enough if the concert ticket price raises more. To encourage more children and teenagers to listen the concert, we lower the ticket price for them. Besides, concert hall rental is also a great issue for the organization because the concert was presented by listening a pure acoustic from the instruments, so, the concert hall's acoustic quality must be highlighted and the rental cost is quite expensive to the organization. 

In addition, the artists are all come from Europe, the organization have to cover transport fees, accommodations fess, and they don't come here to do the charity. These costs are also quite heavy for us especially some costs must be converted to Euros. Last year, we luckily had some sponsors but was not enough to cover all the expenses.

It is really hard to promote music in Johor Bahru. We really hope that you can help us to continue this long, hard, but amazing journey  ;)

Team Introduction

We are Eva and Siew Yong both musicians and friends for a long time who met in France ;)  Eva is pianist and Siew Yong violinist and that's how the idea of creating a festival with the will to promote classical music culture in Johor Bahru was obvious to us. Three years later, here we are: co-founders of Rhapsody Music Festival!

What did we do during three years ?

For three years, we promote classical music culture by inviting international musicians, to perform and give strings master classes during a week.

There are two types of master classes, private classes and open classes, which allow parents, music teachers and other music players to assist the lesson and also train the candidates to perform in front of the many audiences. So, during the master classes, the candidates can not only receive different teaching method from foreign musicians, but they can also learn how to play the pieces with a beautiful musicality. 

In addition, we held violin makers exhibition in 2017, which allow more people, and music lovers know how to make a violin and also how to protect our instrument.

In 2018, we also held a seminar about music education, pedagogy and performing arts by inviting foreign and local musicians to share and discuss their opinions for our music students and thier parents. 

Besides, the viola and cello camp was an activity which let our music students meet professional musicians for two-days. During these days, they can not only learn the technic, but also learn how to sight read as well as sing and listen to each other by playing with the ensemble. These activities allow music lovers and instrumentists to play, to share and to discuss together.

The most impressive and fruitful moment for young musicians is the gala concert because it is the concretization of all the skills they learned. Every year, the Gala Concerts touched a lot of people who doesn't play music.

Since the beginning we have had the pleasure to invite and work with amazing and professional artists from Europe (France, Germany,...).

How will the funds be used ?

1. Realization of quality communication support (Photos, videos, ...)
2. Rental piano & venue (installation costs, transport)
3. Musical programming (artist fees, workshop in schools or music schools)
4. Material & goodies (music stands, music paper, gifts for our supporters,...)
5. Mystartr service fees

Year after year, we see how our relationship grows, how much children enjoy the activities we proposed and this is what support us to continue each year to do more.  

As a non-profit association, it is not easy to cover all the expenses, and this is the reason why we need your financial support.
