Introduction

The 19th National Intervarsity Chinese Literature Awards is a brand- new activity hosted by the Chinese Language Society of the University of Malaya. Previously, this activity was hosted and conducted by New Era College in 2013. Currently, Chinese Language Society of the University of Malaya has obtained the rights to host this event and will be hosting for the upcoming 19th National Intervarsity Chinese Literature Awards.

The 19th National Intervarsity Chinese Literature Awards aims to encourage university students all across Malaysia to engaged in literary works and to award recognition to the excellent examples of University Students' written literature.  The mission of the National Inter-Varsity Chinese Literature Awards is to spread awareness regarding the Chinese language, to improve University Students' language ability and literary comprehension, and to provide a platform for passionate literary creators in University to communicate and share their thoughts with like-minded individuals, and from that, form friendships and amity among their peers.

Objectives

1. To enhance the level of Chinese literacy among the university students.
2. To enhance the understanding of university students towards Chinese literature.
3. To promote about script writing and provide a platform for university students to learn more about script writing.

Missions

1. To provide a platform for university students to publish their literature writings.
2. To enhance the common habit of writing among university students.
3. To explore new talents in Chinese literature writing.
4. To facilitate idea exchanging of Chinese literacy among university students.

Theme：Wen Yi 文毅

Literature refers to a language which can act as a tool to reflect figurative arts, including drama, poetry, novels and essays in a manifestation of culture. Literature is a language used to express the discipline of social life and mental activity. Besides, it also acts as the representative of art and wisdom of a nation. “Wen Yi”, our theme for The 19th National Intervarsity Chinese Literature Awards has its particular meaning in it.

The Chinese word “Wen” contains the meaning that it is not only the representative of literature but also represents Chinese culture as well. Other than that, the word “Yi” refers to the meaning of firm and unwavering ambition.  In this modern era, only those people who have the strong sense of ambitious will be work hard on it and hence to become a successful people. “Wen Yi” flaunt our thoughts, to defend the essence of the nation's determination.

• The grand-prized drama script will be presented in the form of theatrical play during the award ceremony
