On 10th June 2025, a dedicated team of volunteers of We Love Labuan Cats and Dogs, under the Sulam Paws of Hope initiative, successfully helped in catching 19 stray cats from Taman Layang-Layangan and Taman Damai, Labuan. This effort was carried out as part of an ongoing commitment to promote responsible pet population management through humane methods such as vaccination, spaying, and neutering.
Between 10th to 12th June, all 19 cats were safely housed at C&B Pavilion Pets, where they were fasted for a day and provided with a secure and calm environment. This step was crucial in preparing them for a smooth and stress-free sterilization procedure.
On the morning of 12th June, at 9:00 AM, all 19 cats were transported to the Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar Labuan (JPVL) for their scheduled procedures. The cats underwent vaccination, spaying, and neutering, conducted by professional veterinary staff. However, one of the cats was found to be lactating and could not proceed with the operation, as she needed to continue nursing her kittens. She was safely returned for future observation.
On the same day, 12th June, we also contributed to the We Love Labuan Cats and Dogs NGO by donating dog food and cat food for their food bank. This donation is part of our ongoing efforts to support local animal welfare organizations in providing essential resources for stray and rescued animals in need.
Following the procedure, from 12th to 17th June, the cats were brought back to C&B Pavilion Pets for a 5-day post-operative recovery period. During this time, they were given proper rest, monitored closely, and administered medication to ensure they healed comfortably and safely.
Finally, on 17th June, after confirming their stable condition, the cats were released back to their respective locations in Taman Layang-Layangan and Taman Damai.
This project not only reflects our commitment to controlling the stray population humanely but also ensures that these animals live healthier, safer lives. We are incredibly thankful to the volunteers, veterinary team, and our boarding partner, C&B Pavilion Pets, for their tireless support in making this mission a success.
Together, we move one step closer toward a community that cares for its strays — responsibly and compassionately. Thank you for trusting us and donate to safe the strays! Your support means a lot to our furry friends.
