Pastiche is a project that is located at Bukit Ibam, Pahang which aim to improve single mothers' income and standard of living by creating job opportunities in transforming wasted cloths to patchwork bags. We help our target audiences by providing training on sewing and knowledge of patchwork.

Bukit Ibam, is a small town in Pahang with an overwhelming majority of Malay community. It is located in the interior of Endau Rompin area. The major cause of Bukit Ibam is problem in relation to the population of the rural communities. In addition, Bukit Ibam’s economic opportunities are severely limited, partly due to its secludedness.

Based on a survey carried out, we found that the majority of our target audiences rely mainly on the basic income from their husbands who are working as miners and carpenters. Some of them are rely on pension allowance received from the government. Even though some of them do part time job as tailors, they face hard challenges to get regular income from their business, due to low demand.

For the time being, this project aims to be a enterprise that is wholly-owned by the community. We also hope this project can supply pastiche product to steady market. It means that, our target audiences will personally operate the business and generate their income on their own. Moreover, these projects also highlight awareness on the reuse, reused and recycle of cloths.

The production and demand for Patiche totebags are very good due to its quality. Pastiche project expanded its product range to blankets and coasters. However, it is hard for our target audiences to meet overwhelming demand since the sewing machine used is not highly-technology and inefficient. The fund will be used to buy new sewing machine to increase the production and sewing class to enhance our target audience's skills.

Most of our customers are located in Klang Valley. Some of them need to see the products before they buy it. We need to incur postage costs to deliver our products. We planned to expand our projects to other location so that customer can see the quality of Patiche products.

Apart from that, some of our customers demanded some design that is complicated to make it. Patchwork art is a tedious job and it requires skills and creativity. We hope that from this fund, we can hire experts in patchwork to conduct class for our target audiences to improves their skills, knowledege and creativity
