We're Final Year Film Students from MMU's Faculty of Cinematic Arts and we need your help to make our short film into reality!
THE STORY
A mischievous grandmother tries to fake a urine test to stay in the hospital, but a suspicious nurse isn't going to let her get away with it, especially since the nurse is her daughter. In this family, even the hospital can be a battleground!
THE TEAM
MMU (Multimedia University) and USC (University of Southern California) teamed up to develop us, the first batch of students from MMU's Faculty of Cinematic Arts. We are proudly part of the future of Malaysia's film industry.

THE PLAN
We'll be honest: filmmaking isn't cheap. We wish it was. But we really want to give it our all and make this film happen, so we deeply appreciate every single donation. This crowdfunding campaign is only part of our strategy to collect a total of RM20,000, as we're approaching to funders and investors for the other half.
A COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY
Filmmaking is a community effort of both filmmakers and the audience. We have been spreading our campaign to numerous people while, at the same time, building a bigger and more collaborative circle of filmmakers, animators, writers and many more.
Our team went to Shortcut’s public class/screening of renowned directors from all over South-east Asia. We had the pleasure of meeting people from Astro Shaw, Next New Wave and numerous local talents and directors. And yes, we did geeked out!
Our Producer was also involved in KL 48 Hours Film Project and we were invited to their Award Night. We met and thanked the people behind Daily Seni and Veedo for covering our story.
Be a part of our growing community where we collaborate and celebrate each other’s works. You can do so by simply sharing this campaign and contributing for as low as RM10.
TIME
A very universal obstacle, time is of the essence. Between classes, pre-production, other assignments and submissions, we have to pull this short film off. Our short film has to be finished and submitted around March of next year. We also have specific dates on what aspect of the film to finish and present; having consultation with lecturers and industry people on how to improve our work.
COSTS & EXTRA COSTS
In addition to transportation, food, camping utensils (for outdoor shoots), media marketing, designers, and damages, there’s no telling what could happen during filming. So honestly, we need extra money to be prepared for these extra costs; to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our cast and crew.
Besides our Production Cost, our Campaign comes with a cost as well. The Rewards we provide for our contributors cost an estimate of RM1400 while another RM100 is for Facebook Ads. What's left is even far less than how much we need. Of course, we were well aware of the risk. After all, every dream and ambition has their own risk.
It is all up our audience--our fans, friends and family--to make NENEK happen. We believe in the power of the audience and we will work hard towards that belief.
