We're excited to share an incredible opportunity with you! ASK Dance Company (ADC) has been granted the honor of participating in the prestigious Yokohama Dance Collection (YDC) competition 2023, taking place from November 28th to December 5th in Yokohama, Japan. We need your support to make this dream a reality!
What is YDC?
YDC isn't just any dance competition; it's a global platform where dancers, choreographers, and artists push the boundaries of dance composition, direction, and technique. It's a place where artistic expression knows no limits, and where cultural exchange and dialogue flourish.

Meet the Team
Mohd Zulkarnain bin Zuber (Choreographer)
Mohamad Adlan Bin Sairin became active in dance at the age of 16. He has continued his studies in the field of dance at the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) for his diploma. After graduating from UPSI, he continued his studies at the National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage (ASWARA) where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree majoring in performance. He Participated in many performances/festivals not only in the country but also abroad, such as China, Hongkong, Hawaii, Singapore, Italy and India. Currently he works with ASK Dance Company as a full time dancer.
Fatin Nadhirah binti Rahmat completed both her Diploma in Dance and Bachelor of Dance (Honours) majoring in Performance at the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage ASWARA. She has been involved in various contemporary and traditional productions both locally and internationally. Nadhirah has also been seen in commercial TV Shows and music videos with several Malaysia’s well-known artists. In August 2019, she participated in the Hofesh Shecter workshop sponsored by MyDance Alliance and Strut Dance in Perth. Recently, she completed her Arangetram in classical Bharatanatyam dance. She is currently a Soloist at ASK Dance Company.
Wong Shan Tie started off cheerleading in highschool then later obtained her Diploma and Bachelor in Dance (Honours) majoring in performance from Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA). Throughout her years in ASWARA, she has been on the dean’s list several times and was once awarded with the best student award. She is currently a soloist under ASK Dance Company and has travelled to Poland for the Roots of Dance residency, India for the Khajuraho Dance Festival and recently to Taiwan for 34th Dance of the World - A Malaysian dance Camp.
What is Interchange
Interchange is a recent work of emerging young choreographer, Zulkarnain Zuber. The dance was first presented at Sibu International Dance Festival 2022, Sarawak and has been performed twice more in Kuala Lumpur for DanceBox 2022 and MyDance Festival 2023 organised by MyDance Alliance, Malaysia. The dance showcases an exploration of the relationship between movement, rhythm and tempo reflecting the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur city folks. Interchange is a powerful piece – jam-packed with small intricate movements performed with accuracy and precision at various tempos challenging the performers’ agility, awareness and sensibility of dancing with others and musicality.

Through our participation in YDC, we aim to not only spotlight Malaysian artistry but also inspire our fellow Malaysian artists. We want to show the world that Malaysian art has a place on the international stage and celebrate our nation's identity.

Zulkarnain Zuber is from Kangar, Perlis. He graduated with a Diploma (Performance) and Bachelor in Dance, majoring in Choreography from The National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA). He is presently working as a Principal Dancer and Choreographer with ASK Dance Company. He has performed and choreographed for local and international dance festivals including the TARI, Georgetown Festival, Roots Of Dance in Poland, and the Khajuraho International Dance Festival in India among others. He has worked with local and international artists, including Lim Pei Ern, Un Yamada (Japan), and Annalouise Paul (Australia) to name a few. As a choreographer, Zulkarnain investigates quirky, detailed movements with explorations of sharp, direct energy, and incorporating traditional dance and cultural elements. He also teaches and prepares dancers for competitions and performances.
