We are targetting to create a docu-travelogue-film; a journey to iconic Malaysia film’s settings. For the past few years, we independently filmed several Indonesia and Thailand film’s location specifically in Bali and Krabi.
We thought that it could be fun if we could do the same with some of Malaysia’s films. This film will be featured in an online-broadcast content, that will show audiences of the exact location and setting that were featured in the films. Some of the films that are in our mind right now are ‘Journey’ (a unique kampung house somewhere in Cameron Highland) , ‘Bunohan’ (the signboard, the graveyard), ‘Ice Kacang Puppy Love’ (the jetty, old Kedai Kopi somewhere in Penang). We are also going to shoot some of the ‘signature’ stuff that were in films, such as the hot air balloon in The Journey, or the haunted house in Lelaki Harapan Dunia and also iconic props such as Rahmat Harun’s book ‘Utopia Trauma’ in KAMI and the car from the film Dari Jempoh to Manchester.
YOU'll HELP US TO REMIND OTHERS THAT MALAYSIA HAS BEAUTIFUL MOVIE ESSENCE!
Money is not everything, of course. But everything needs money! Living in an era where ‘everything needs money’ is quite tough for all of us, and especially in our field of works - films shooting. The production needs money to travel and shooting. Even though we will be working in a small team of production, travelling here and there will be quite a haywire if the production doesn’t have an enough amount of bucks.
Specifically, we’ll breakdown every area of works that needed funds to make this project happen.
TRAVELLING/ SHOOTING
We are going to be everywhere (literally everywhere) in the 2 months of shooting period. We are probably begin shooting in Kuala Lumpur such as the location of the rooftop with Kuala Lumpur Tower view in KIL movie, then we might be going to Perlis to shoot at the location in Passport Espress movie, then we might be going to Terengganu to shoot at the location of the famous Polis Evo movie, and who knows (if we got money!), we might end up shooting at Sabah or Sarawak!
FOODS AND BEVARAGES
Even the great Superman needs foods. Usain Bolt can’t really run that fast if he doesn’t have enough Gatorade. :)
ACCOMODATIONS
We know we could just sleep at any bus stop or haunted house in each of the locations, but in order to give you the best travelogue, we could use some of the comfy and cozy backpackers hostels. You know, best mental and physical conditions could bring out the best of us, creatively.

PRODUCTION PERIOD
January 2018 to end of February 2018.
The hardest part in filming a documentary travelogue is, the travel itself. We still remember our roadtrip to Maya Bay, Krabi Thailand, to get to the iconic's Danny Boyle's film location. That time, our budget is really limited, we had to use the road and forget about the comfort airplan, and limit all the expenses include food. And the best part, we made it, but it was not properly filmed.
Doing the same idea in our own place/ country is way easy, but this time we need a proper production, schedule, research, content and the touch from production team. Last time when we went to Maya Bay, we had no ideas about shooting, and it was an impromptu, with no content and story. We learned a lot from that, and this time, for the sake of films and Malaysia, we are going to do the right way.
Everyone can watch the final product once we done the post production and upload it to online broadcast medium. For some reason, it is a publicity strategy as well, the online final product could be a pilot video for TV station, as the team involves people with good tv production experiences. Currently, we are building a good connection for the future of My Footloose, our schedule is full of meeting and discussion to make it great. Hopefully, Mystartr will be the beginning of our new journey.
