I'm the project manager for Liter of Light Malaysia. To date, we've installed 931 solar powered lights, impacting the lives of 2927 Malaysians living in rural areas without electricity.
Did you know that less than 2% of all humanitarian funding goes directly to local NGOs?

Together with more than 40 volunteers we'll drive deep into the jungle and the install solar powered lights for Anjeti and her neighbors. You can be one of those volunteers, just pick the right perk.
Anjeti's husband passed away 2 years ago and all her children (3 babies and 3 kids) live with her in the house. Some of the kids work odd jobs. There are 13 adults in this house. The women usually stay home to take care of the younger ones. The men barely earn enough to support everyone. The solar lights will help them cut costs - money they can then spend to provide the babies with the nutritious milk they need.
Imagine having to light up your home with candles and sometimes even bonfires. You can’t go outside because the risk of running into dangerous, wild animals is real. And studying at night is nearly impossible.
This is how Anjeti's family and her neigbors in Kampung Teras live their daily lives. No electricity. Ever.
Having light at night is a matter of life or death to them. It makes going out at night safe, helps the kids to study, and brings the people closer together. Join us in our mission to give them light at night, so they won’t have to sit in darkness during Christmas, or ever again.
Liter of Light Malaysia is raising funds to light up the home of every family in Kampung Teras. So pick on of the special crafted perks and #givelight to Anjeti's family and her neigbors, so they can spend Christmas like you and I do. Don't they deserve that?
In the map you can see a detailed map of the houses in Kampung Teras and the lights we'll be installing to light them up. Help make it happen!
We have done this project 21 times before. We know what we're doing.
The only risk is:
What happens to any excess funding?
