ABOUT PROJECT
INTRODUCTION
The SULAM (Service-Learning Malaysia – University for Society) project, initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, aims to encourage students to engage with communities while applying the knowledge and skills gained at university. It emphasizes experiential learning through community service, where students can tackle real-world challenges, promote social responsibility, and develop essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, and empathy. For us students, it is a meaningful opportunity to step beyond the classroom and connect with the real world.
Having chosen Labuan as the place to pursue our studies, we feel a strong sense of responsibility to give back to the community before graduating. As part of our SULAM project, we have chosen to focus on improving the environment of a local primary school, SKK SK St Anne Labuan. We are currently exploring ways to contribute, such as upgrading facilities and beautifying the surroundings. By creating a better and more welcoming school environment, we hope to inspire young students, enhance their learning experience, and show that their well-being matters to the wider community.
To support this initiative, we plan to raise funds through crowdfunding, which involves collecting small contributions from many individuals. This method not only helps us gather the necessary resources but also allows the community to be actively involved in our efforts. We believe that, together, we can make a small but lasting difference in the lives of these students.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fund Hive proudly presents “Smart Meals, Smarter Minds,” a mural painting and rejuvenation project for the Healthy Meal Hub at SKK SK St. Anne. The school has achieved a 5-star state-level rating for this area for three consecutive years. However, the space has recently shown signs of neglect. To help the school preserve its stellar track record, this project aims to revitalize the space by painting vibrant murals promoting healthy lives and introducing interactive wall activities. These initiatives are intended to improve the environment, promote creativity, and boost health awareness among students.
We will also provide a Smart TV to help the school's teaching and learning activities as part of our contribution. Nowadays, incorporating innovative technology into education is critical, and our donation will contribute to a more interesting and current learning experience for kids.
UNIQUE OF PROJECT
Our mural painting rejuvenation project for the school's Healthy Meal Hub stands out by combining creativity with meaningful educational impact. It encourages healthy lifestyle awareness by visually promoting nutritious food choices and the importance of balanced meals, helping students internalize positive habits from a young age. The colorful layout of the mural serves as a powerful visual learning aid, enhancing visual memory and keeping children engaged. Additionally, the collaborative nature of the mural painting fosters the development of social and motor skills, as children work together or individually, building cooperation and fine motor coordination through hands-on artistic expression.
Moreover, we will also donate a Smart TV to the school as part of our project; by contributing a Smart TV to the school, we aim to support digital learning opportunities, enabling teachers to deliver interactive content that reinforces education and broadens students’ overall learning experience.

The Labuan Teochew Association serves as a key collaborator in our crowdfunding initiative. RISKS AND CHALLENGES
Insufficient Funding
Our crowdfunding campaigns may not reach their goal due to limited donor interest, low publicity, or a lack of public trust in the project. As students, we may face challenges in convincing potential donors that our project is credible and impactful. In addition, there are many fundraising projects on the Internet at the same time, and we must also face high competition.
Limited Manpower and Skillset
As university students, our team may face limitations in technical knowledge and physical abilities to perform certain parts of the project. For example, tasks such as painting school walls, installing visual learning aids, setting up physical materials such as floor stickers, or organizing logistics may require specific tools, techniques, or physical abilities that we may not fully possess. Additionally, managing time and energy among team members due to academic responsibilities such as assignments, exams, and other classes may also pose a challenge. This may result in project delays or reduced quality of the final output.
Time Constraints
The project involved multiple phases, including proposal submission, stakeholder approval, crowdfunding setup, active fundraising, sourcing materials, field work, and a final report – all to be completed within a limited timeframe of approximately 3 months. Any delays in obtaining school approval, working with suppliers, receiving funding, or coordinating logistics could have a knock-on effect, disrupting the entire project schedule. Due to tight course schedules and unexpected events (e.g., exam conflicts, public holidays, shortages of materials), we may not be able to complete the project by the planned deadline, which could reduce its impact or affect its quality.

Insufficient Funding
Our crowdfunding campaigns may not reach their goal due to limited donor interest, low publicity, or a lack of public trust in the project. As students, we may face challenges in convincing potential donors that our project is credible and impactful. In addition, there are many fundraising projects on the Internet at the same time, and we must also face high competition.
Limited Manpower and Skillset
As university students, our team may face limitations in technical knowledge and physical abilities to perform certain parts of the project. For example, tasks such as painting school walls, installing visual learning aids, setting up physical materials such as floor stickers, or organizing logistics may require specific tools, techniques, or physical abilities that we may not fully possess. Additionally, managing time and energy among team members due to academic responsibilities such as assignments, exams, and other classes may also pose a challenge. This may result in project delays or reduced quality of the final output.
Time Constraints
The project involved multiple phases, including proposal submission, stakeholder approval, crowdfunding setup, active fundraising, sourcing materials, field work, and a final report – all to be completed within a limited timeframe of approximately 3 months. Any delays in obtaining school approval, working with suppliers, receiving funding, or coordinating logistics could have a knock-on effect, disrupting the entire project schedule. Due to tight course schedules and unexpected events (e.g., exam conflicts, public holidays, shortages of materials), we may not be able to complete the project by the planned deadline, which could reduce its impact or affect its quality.

About Me
We are a group of 11 final-year students from the International Financial Economics (HE22) program at UMSKAL. Through this crowdfunding initiative, we aim to refurbish the "Healthy Meal Hub" display area at SKK SK St. Anne, W.P. Labuan — a space that had previously achieved three consecutive 5-star state awards. Additionally, we plan to donate a Smart TV to support the school's educational development, helping to create a more inspiring and modern learning environment for the students.
