A boxing match ignites rivalry between two brothers from a broken home.

 

SYNOPSIS

 In a lower middle-class gym in the underprivileged underbelly of Klang an intense and unhealthy is brewing between two brothers: The beloved champ and elder brother Khalis, and the underdog and younger brother Khalid. When everyone only cares about Khalis and his cocky elite “A” team including their father Mustafa, Pak Mat sees the potential in Khalid in the sea of mediocre fighters in the “B” team. Khalid soon realizes what everyone really thinks of him, just Khalis’ mediocre brother who will never be half the man his brother is. Khalid and Pak Mat team up to beat Khalis and his elite “A” team in a high-stakes fight where several important talent scouts will be attending.

 

INSPIRATION

I was inspired to make this film because of my love for sports. It is the same things that we can get from all type of sports which is competitive. In any sport, everyone wants to be the best which is the number ONE. Hence, in this film I want to explore more particularly about boxing sports. Rivalry is always been my passionate theme in storytelling. Two character with different motive, goals, and motivation driven by each other to be the best among the best. It is the intensity, sacrifice and effort that the character are willing to made to push their limit is what make the story interesting. On the surface, what we can see from a boxing sport is just a violence between two fighters in the ring. However, the beauty of the sports is actually more and beyond than that. It is the individual itself and what stakes they are in and what is more important is to prove that they are more capable than what they are. It is something that can be related with life, we got knocked down many times in life and still get up and continue the fight. Moreover, this film will also explore more about the essence of family especially between brothers. This film really inspired by my personal experience rivalry with my own older brother in sports back in the school. The intensity, and also individual attitude, methodology, motivation to be better than the others is what make this story beautiful. It is a story that everyone can be connected with.

KHAIRI RAZALEE (DIRECTOR)

• An aspiring filmmaker that been involved in cinematic field at a very young age. "COLLISION" has always been one of his dream project. A story about rivalries in boxing sports between brothers who came from a broken home. With his crew on his back, such complex and entertaining visions will be achieve to be on screen.

 

AFIQ ROSLI (PRODUCER)

• Demonstrate the creativity, tenacity and vision required to produce quality films.

 

IZZ KHALIS (WRITER & DOP)

• An aspiring young filmmaker with a love for disney films who believes watching movies should be like dreaming with your eyes open. His lives by the famous quote from Walt Disney himself “ If you can dream it, Then you can do it.

• An individual who loves to write more, and improve more.

 

LUQMAN FARIS (SOUND)

• A young filmmaker stops at nothing in order to improve. He love to test his skills to create perfect soundscape for COLLISION. He will makesure the environment of the film will be immersive.

• Highly creative individual with the ability to innovate visuals captured through the lenses of camera. He has proven his ability to create strong, impactful visuals. He will be editing COLLISION with his distinctive, precise cuts.

THE CAST

• With 4 days shooting, we have 4 actors as well. With the fundings it will be able to cover them
• With specific scenes and days, extras will also have its role in this short film and with the fundings it will be able to cover them.

LOCATION

• For now, we have two locations that has been locked which are the ring located in Subang Jaya  and the House in Kampung Bahru. With the fundings we hope it will be able to help cover the cost.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

• Cameras. It's important to know what kind of cameras  that yu need to use when shooting a film like this. Now that our DOP and director knows what cameras are going to use the fundings can help over the cost.

CATERING

• Food is very important during on set because it will be able to make the cast, crew energize and happy to work. With the funds it can cover 4 days catering.

 

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

The story is about an intense rivalry between two brothers in a boxing sports forge from a broken home. The one we are following and the main protagonist for this film is the younger brother, Khalid who is envy toward his older brother, Khalis that always get all the attention, praise and recognition from all the fighters in the gym and especially their own only father. Khalid, who is isolated and the forgotten finally realised that after all this time he is just a punching bag for his older brother as he always loses with Khalis. Getting sick by the all the praise and recognition everyone shows toward his older brother, Khalid’s envy and jealousy increases especially even his own father put all the attention to Khalis only. 

 On the surface, it might look like just a two boxers fighting in the ring, but it is actually beyond than that and the fight is getting more personal between these two individuals. The heart of the story is about tough love between brothers and love affection in a family that did not have a mother, a woman touch. Moreover, at the same time how far can ego push you and how actually ego can dragged you down. How much sacrifice, motivation, effort that you are willing to take in order to push yourself to your limit and prove the society what you really capable of. This is all the relatable question that can be explore in the journey in the film.

We are putting our best efforts to make this projects a successful one. With the funding, we would hopefully be able this vision will be achieve. We believe that no sport is better suited for the movies than boxing. This film will be drama, be inherent, the characters' intentions clear, the heroes and villains easily identified. We believe this is the time of sports film to rise.
