ABOUT PROJECT
“Brightening Golden Years” is a community crowdfunding campaign organized to support the well-being of our beloved elderly in Labuan. This project focuses on two beneficiaries:

1. Madam Low, an underprivileged senior citizen who needs basic daily necessities to improve her quality of life.
2. PAWE Labuan, a senior citizen activity center, where we aim to enhance the environment with baking equipment and a Bluetooth speaker to support recreational and learning activities.

As part of our SULAM (Service-Learning Malaysia) initiative, we believe every senior deserves love, dignity, and meaningful engagement in their golden years. By contributing to this campaign, you’re not just donating, you’re making a real impact on someone’s life.

OUR COMMUNITY & COLLABORATOR

We visited with one of our community’s members – Madam Low in her rented room near D ’One Mart. Her story deeply moved us. Originally from Melaka, she moved to Labuan 30 years ago with her husband but is now divorced. In 2022, she suffered the tragic loss of her adopted son in a car accident. Today, at 73 years old, she lives alone and earns an unstable income of around RM1,000 a month from part-time cleaning jobs. She also receives RM500 monthly assistance from the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat to help with her rent.

Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE) Labuan is a community center established under the supervision of Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan. This center is dedicated to supporting the well-being of senior citizens by providing them with a safe, engaging and supportive environment.

Our team is pleased to be working with our collaborator, the Lions Club of Labuan, to make a positive impact on the senior citizen's community by improving their quality and comfort life.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this project is to raise funds to support the well-being of two key beneficiaries: Madam Low, a senior citizen facing financial difficulties, and the PAWE Labuan senior activity center. Through this initiative, we aim to provide Madam Low with essential daily needs and to equip PAWE Labuan with baking tools and a Bluetooth speaker. These items will help enhance the daily lives of the elderly by encouraging active participation, learning, and social interaction in a more joyful and supportive environment. Ultimately, this project seeks to bring comfort, care, and happiness to our respected elders in their golden years.

OUR OBJECTIVES

1. To raise public awareness and encourage community involvement in caring for the senior citizen, fostering a spirit of compassion, social responsibility, and sustainable giving among the wider community.
2. To raise RM 2,296 through crowdfunding to purchase retired senior citizen needs.
3. To enhance the comfort and quality of life of senior citizens by providing essential and long-lasting support items tailored to their daily needs.

BUDGET

The risk that we might faced during this campaign are : 

1. Failure to meet the funding goal may arise from poor planning or ineffective promotion, requiring expense reductions to achieve core objectives.
2. Any excess funds collected will be allocated as a contingency to support the daily needs of Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE) Labuan.
3. Mismanagement or misuse of funds could lead to a loss of public trust, negatively impacting future crowdfunding efforts and humanitarian projects.

Challenge that faced during this campaign are: 
To overcome the short fund collection period, we will use social media as the main promotional platform to boost visibility, while to build public trust, we will update and clarify program details on MyStartr and social media to ensure transparency and credibility.
