BAPAK BOREK, ANAK RINTIK - SHORT FILM
'Bapa Borek, Anak Rintik' is a student final year project by 13:12 pictures under MMU Faculty of Cinematic Arts. It is a family-drama short film that tells a story about a guy in his mid-30s, who struggle to choose between his work or his own family. The film shows how a small decision will change a life.
THE STORY
Nizam is a 34 years old guy who is working as a cell tower technician. His job is already part of his life and being an 'on-call' job, he is constantly receiving many calls. His job also requires him to travel back and forth. At the same time, he is tied to his responsibility as a son to take care of his father in the hospital. Plus, it does not help him much that his father is always wanting his son to come to visit him in the hospital even though he knows that his son is still working.
The point that flips his life is when his father's constant calling distracts him and cause him to make a mistake during work. His boss is very unforgiving about that and threatens to fire him on that day if he does not fix back his mistakes. After that, he got a call from the hospital saying that his father is in a critical condition. He is in a tight spot where he needs to decide between going back to his workplace to fix his mistake or going back to the hospital to see his father that is in a critical condition.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
"During my father's last moment, I was late to be by his side because of other stuff that I chose to do first instead of meeting my own father. I regret my decision back then and always hoping that I will have my redemption by this film."

In general, this film is about disconnection. And we can see this through the main character journey. Technologies supposed to bring us closer together but the way we see, is we are much more disconnected than ever. This is the story we want to tell.
As student filmmakers, finance is our biggest obstacle, we have started to look for funding from film funds and investors from the industry and we have to say it is not an easy journey. Therefore, we started this campaign in Mystartr to show who we are, and what we are doing, and your supports means everything to us!
