Hello! We are Sinema Awan Mendung, a group of film students working on their Final Year Project from Faculty of Cinematic Arts, Multimedia University (MMU). We are proud to present the short film we are working on - ASRAMA!

A drama with hints of comedy, this short film is set in a life of survival in an ‘ASRAMA’. When the school queen bee appoints Nik as a mule to send contraband over to the boys’ dorm, Nik takes the opportunity to prove to Fatin her worth. When things don’t go as plan, she must decide if the chase is worth the blame?

Even since when I was young, my dad would tell me stories of his life in the asrama and eventho it was a different time and place, I could still relate because the asrama life itself had a common ground. It has its own traditions, social rules and that makes the world so rich. It brings people from different places with different purposes, characters with interesting backstories and that's why I think this would be a fun, interesting story to tell.

We have a sucessful casting call with over 30 submissions! Thanks to everyone who submitted! Too bad we can only choose one person for each role. Presenting our cast... Yuyun as Nik, Sara as Fatin and Saffea as Alia!

While our imagination for our upcoming film is limitless, our wallets are not. We are just students (with debt from PTPTN some more) so this is where we need your help to fund our film!

The money we received will all go into the making of the film, including:

- Camera equipment and lighting rentals
- Props and tools to decorate the location
- Wardrobe and makeup for the casts
- Food and drinks for the casts and crew on film set
- Transportation for cast and crew
- Payment for casts 

Every single ringgit helps!

We plan to shoot our film at early January, so be sure to fund us as soon as possible before it is too late!

As our project overlaps with CMCO and RMCO, finding a location for shoot is extremely difficult. We have tried asking almost all the secondary schools with hostels in JB for permission to shoot, we went as far as traveling up to Melaka from Johor Bahru just to visit and ask the school for shooting permission. Since all the schools are worried about Covid-19 infection, we still have not secure a place to shoot our final short film for now. However, we are currently looking for alternatives to school hostels such as empty university hostel buildings as well as private hostels. (Just like our teaser, which is shot in Kem Kaizen!)

As students, we do not have money to fund our own film. That is where Mystartr comes in, where the public can fund us and make ASRAMA the short film a reality!
